News & Updates 2006:
SWLL Update:
December 20, 2006
All: I apologize for the
tardiness of the updates. I think I should have all of your changes in
the schedule, so please check the new schedule and make sure all of your
games are correct. If they are not, please
email me to let me know what
needs to be changed and put "SWLL Schedule Change" in the subject line.
Planning is starting for the 2007
Championships that will be held in Atlanta. More details to come soon.
Also, please consider volunteering for the SWLL positions for 07-08 as
Meghan and I will both be stepping down. Volunteers are necessary to
keep this league running, so we appreciate your help.

The contact list under the
Contact tab has been updated since the Board Meeting. If you find a
mistake, please let Jen and
Traci know if something needs to
be corrected.
I'm still working on the swll.org
email list, etc. Please be patient and check the contact list when you
need to send emails instead of sending to an @swll.org email address.

SWLL Update:
October 6, 2006
Our email account and web hosting
account seems to have lapsed, so I am in the process of getting our website
changed over to Will Oakley's hosting site, and the new address is
www.swll.ialax.com. I'm
working on getting our email addresses updated, so we may be able to keep
the @swll.org emails or we may change to @swll.ialax.com email addresses.
Please refer to your most recent contact list that Traci Collins has sent
out (and I will attach below) to email whoever you need to directly. I
am going to send out an email to all of the addresses, so you can keep that
as one to reply-all to if you need to. Please email me at
crews.jennifer@gmail.com if
you have any questions or need anything in particular. And those of
you that are on the list and don't want to be, I'm getting that taken care
of as well. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Thanks,
Jen

*7 participating teams: Auburn (AUB), Central Florida (UCF), Emory (EU),
Florida (UF), Georgia (UGA), Georgia Tech (GT), and SCAD
**Each team gets 4-5 30-minute running clock games. Everyone also plays
back-to-back at least once.
Second, I know there has been some discussion about how to handle the
expansion of SWLL and a couple of thoughts that I had were: (1) to cut
down on the number of league games for full members (from 8 to 6) so
that way those teams wanting to play more out of league competition can
do so and the teams that do not want to travel can add additional games with
other SWLL teams (this would also most likely lower dues some);
(2) Make the champs 8 teams with
games only held on Saturday and Sunday and no byes (1 v 8, 2 v 7, etc. on
Saturday AM, then semis that
afternoon/evening and the champs on Sunday) - most leagues play multiple
games in one day (the WCLL plays 3!)...this way we include more teams,
miss less school, etc....Let me know your thoughts, or other ideas so I
can put together the agenda for the meeting as well as any potential
votes.
Third, the 2007 Championships: the open weekends look to be either
April 14th-15th or April 21st-22nd. The AQ winner is due to the WDIA by
Sunday or Monday, April 22nd or 23rd. If your school is interested in
hosting the champs (or has a nearby HS or park that is, etc.) please
start working on it...I will send out an additional document later today or
tomorrow outlining what we would like to have in a venue as well as what
the SWLL will need to know before voting - something I would like to do
at the meetings as opposed to later via e-mail.
Thanks, Meghan

SWLL Update:
August 10, 2006
The Fall Play Day at Emory is set
for the weekend of October 21 & 22 (Saturday and Sunday). The
play day will start at 9 or 9:30 on Saturday morning, followed
by the SWLL Board Meeting at 4 pm in a classroom on the 2nd floor
of the Athletic Center. The Scheduling Meeting will take place
on Sunday at 9:00 am in the same classroom.
All teams: please pass
along your current contact information to Traci (traci@swll.org)
and Meghan (meghan@swll.org) so we have
updated information regarding how to contact you.
To all of the '06 All-SWLL
players: It has been a huge fiasco to get the right shorts for your
'06 All-SWLL gift. I personally apologize for the inconvenience and
the time you've had to wait. I will have these shorts at the play day,
but if you have graduated or won't be at the play day, please let me know
and I will mail them to you. I will be contacting all of you
individually (as much as I can), to find out if you will be at the play day
or if I need to drop these in the mail. So sorry for the confusion.
I hope you like them.
New Teams:
If you are
interested in joining the SWLL for the 2007 season, please contact
Meghan McDonogh.
Also, current
SWLL teams (and those interested in joining SWLL), please pencil in October 21st
, 2006
as the date for the fall play day and board meetings followed by a scheduling
meeting on October 22nd.
Reminder to all SWLL teams that running up the score is considered unsportsman like
conduct and is frowned upon by the board. As a developing area SWLL has stressed the importance
of growth and discouraging teams by running up the score does not contribute to this goal.
We suggest switching your attack and defense and then teaching those who play your normal position.
Goals scored do NOT affect your rankings so it is to no advantage to run up the score.
